Give to Yourself What You Give to Others

Updated: Feb 21

Have you ever given something you love so much to someone else because you know how beautiful it is to share it?

And, have you ever given something that you love only to realize that what you're giving is something you need -- from yourself?

One of the skills I share with people is how to take in the good fully before sharing it.

The reason I offer it to others is because I've been working on it for years.

I used to be in a big cycle of over-giving.

And, I loved the feeling of being there for people, being "the one."

And, I also wanted to feel needed and loved this way. It's what I learned when I was a kid.

After I burned out -- with lots of one-sided connections and in my career, I knew I had to make a big change.

I've been on a journey ever since, which is why I love sharing tools and practices to boost. taking up our own space and cherishing it -- really filling our own cups and replenishing with Source before giving.

A few months ago, I was thinking about why I love the work I do with women so much: Yes, the discoveries people make are amazing! Seeing people light up when they realize who they ARE is such a gift!

Yes, people are transported to a place within themselves of greater trust, truth, and knowing, and recognizing of their own worth and value -- which is bountiful!

And, yes, being able to blend together what I know works: spirituality, energy work, & intuition with every day life experiences (work, relationships, self-awareness) is profound.

But, one of the main reasons is because I have access to a part of me that is fully aligned with Spirit and my own Soul.

It's a beautiful space within me.

And, I've been making it beautiful for others, rather than resting in it for myself!

It's a sacred way of Listening with my whole body and Spirit.

After realizing this, I've begun giving myself this space of Listening and Receiving and Loving, and my life is changing beautifully.

We are taught to give to others first.

We are often taught to give to others what we most want for ourselves.

We are taught to be there for other people as a kind witness.

Isn't it time we listen to ourselves?

Wholly? Beautifully? As we would a friend or child?

With our whole hearts and souls.

A simple guide on how to:

  1. Place your hand on your heart, and say, "I do." This is promising to listen to your own heart.

  2. Breathe and feel the gratitude of being fully alive.

  3. Focus your attention on your core (anywhere from your chest to your belly), and feel the space inside there for you.

  4. Now, ask if there's anything that needs to be heard and give yourself the same beautiful attention -- with love and care and compassion -- you give a friend, a partner, or small child.

  5. Let yourself bathe in the Love that's there. If you can't feel it, imagine it as a Light.

  6. If you don't hear words back, that's okay. You are offering yourself your own kind attention and love.

  7. As the quote goes, "You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection."

If it feels right, make this a daily practice. ♥️
